    1. ***Received ARC in exchange for an honest review***This book, wow. Fletcher Adams was your typical jock that had a bad reputation and never dreamt of settling down furthermore ever being in a relationship until he meets Jessica Taylor.Jessica Taylor was recovering from a terrible loss due to a domestic incident when she met Fletcher. It was insta lust for Fletcher but not for Jessica. This story was a slow build up which was really good and made it seem more realistic. Fletcher was always there t [...]

    2. "Playing The Game" - A Beautiful Game book One - is by author Karen Frances. My Rating: 5 Book Cover Rating: 4*Not a standalone*This is one of the hardest reviews to write, for me. I have truly been reflecting on this review for a week. I did love it! However, unfortunately, the cliffhanger unravelled all the good feelings I had. It left me speechless and angry. However, I wasn't speechless for long because the foul words that spewed from my mouth went on for a while. I guess you can infer that I [...]

    3. I'm not going to lie, but the cover is definitely what drew me to this book! I've also known of this author for a few years now and I've met her at a few book signings, but I'd yet to pick up one of her books! I then heard about this book releasing and I really wanted to read it! I received a review copy from the author and started reading it straightaway! After reading, I can say that I freaking loved this book! It exceeded my high expectations and the plot was absolutely amazing! The romance b [...]

    4. Where do I start with this book? The fact it's about Scotland always helps in making me feel all patriotic. But seriously, fletcher *Susan fans herself* is one of my first 2017 book boyfriends. The story of Fletcher, returning to a football career in his home town of Glasgow, playing for his country, was one as a football-clueless woman I was sceptical I would enjoy but it was fantastic. Excerpt:A fresh start is what I need to put recent events behind me. Would I be able to stay out of trouble f [...]

    5. I usually don't read sports books but I love this author's writing so thought I would give this one a go and I'm so happy I did. This book starts out with quite a bit of drama and Karen Frances certainly doesn't pull any punches. Our first introduction to Jessica is when she's in the hospital after being attacked by her boyfriend. To say that it's a dramatic start would be an understatement. While trying to piece herself back together the last thing Jessica needs is more drama in her life. Enter [...]

    6. I love a good romance sports book and this one is definitely on the list. Yes it has a little bit of sports but mostly revolves around Jessica and Fletcher. When we first meet Fletcher, he's a lost footballer, with a bad reputation, who's come back home to make a decision. He knows he wants a change but not sure where yet. Jessica's first meet wasn't a good one at all. She had just gotten beat up, lost her baby and is majorly depressed. With the help of her best friend, parents and Fletcher, she [...]

    7. This story gave me all the feels. It was my first book by this author and it was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Both of these characters went through hard times but found each other when they needed each other. It was a well written book which tugged at the heart strings and broke me.Jess story was a hard one to read but it was portrayed perfectly. The cliffy at the end killed me but I don’t have long to wait for book 2.

    8. ** Provided on behalf of the author for an honest review **** Review by Kylie from Bloggers From Down Under **Jess Taylor has everything a girl could ever ask for. A beautiful house, the job of her dreams, a loyal best friend and a baby on the way. But her partner, Scott, takes most of that away from her in a horrible way.Waking up in the hospital, Jess knows that Scott is responsible for her horrific injuries, and the tragic loss of her precious son. And even though the have had their fair shar [...]

    9. Y'all. This book. I finished this one a few days ago & I wanted to sit on it. See how I really felt before posting my review. I'm gonna be honest with y'all. Although I tremendously enjoyed this book, I struggled with it. My struggles were not any fault of the Author- she is crazy good y'all. I struggled because I am VERY southern & the dialect in this book is VERY Scottish. Like I said, not a bad thing in any way- just a ME thing. I want to give y'all a heads up- Playing the Game is boo [...]

    10. 3.5*I wanted to love this. I really really did and I was so excited to read it. But I didn't love it as much as I wanted to. I found myself struggling to read it to begin with and there were a few times I was tempted to shelf it, but I was determined not to give up. To see it through to the end. I liked it, don't get me wrong but I felt it was very long winded in the first half of the book. The story was there. I really liked the story and I loved the characters. They were incredibly strong and h [...]

    11.  This book had alot going on, I wanted to love it and while I did enjoy the story behind it, i think the writing let me down. Jess has gone through alot and she is stronger than one would be in the circumstances.Fletcher has just moved back from England to tie up some affairs, being in the right place at the right time gives him and Jess the chance of meeting and starting them on a whirlwind romance.Jess and Fletcher worked well and I enjoyed there story, but unfortunately the cliffhanger and s [...]

    12. There are so many words that I could use to describe how I felt while reading this book, awe, happiness, love, sadness, heartbreak and many more! This book is very well written and you will feel all the emotions while your reading it. Throughout this book I couldn't put it down because the story was so good but at other times I had no choice because I simply couldn't read for tears! My heart felt like it was being ripped out of my chest, Fletcher Adams is definitely my new book boyfriend and I'l [...]

    13. Holy cliffhanger! Fletcher is a well known footballer who has decisions to make. Stay with his present team or move back home to Glasgow. When he comes to the aid of his new neighbors, he is beside himself when he sees their beautiful daughter Jessica. But Jessica has her baggage. An abusive ex who has taken away all that is precious to her. Is Fletcher crazy for falling for her? Are his playboy ways in the past? Will his reputation ruin the chance he has with Jessica? Beautiful romance  that h [...]

    14. Playing the game, Karen FrancesOh gosh this book is like being on an amazing rollercoaster, it took me everywhere, shock, tears, happiness, excitement lust and more! It's written so well, it just flowed, so easy to read and captivating, it was hard to put down and function with my family and busy life. I'm so in love with Fletch and Jess, but not only them their friends are pretty freaking interesting too, I can see them being a lot of fun and hope to read more about them.I know the next book wil [...]

    15. Fletcher Adams is a football star in the UK, he's been playing since he was a kid and been all over the world, including playing for the National Team. He's back in Scotland after playing in England for years and raising hell all over the press with his antics. He's back and taking care of his grandmother's estate after her death, even though his mom told him years earlier that she was dead. Jessica Taylor is a mid-twenties business owner who is pregnant by her boyfriend. One night changes every [...]

    16. This book was phenomenal! It was my first by this author, and I fell in love quickly with her writing. She has a real talent for bringing characters to life. My heart was crushed by what Jess went through. I cried for her several times throughout. Fletcher's story just made me want to give him a giant hug! Watching these two get to know each other, battle their demons and fall in love made my heart smile! I've definitely #fallenforfletch

    17. Playing the Game was a great, emotional read. The story flowed well and had some surprise twists. It did touch the issue of domestic violence. The characters were pleasing, and you could feel the connection Fletcher and Jessica had for eachother. Only thing I didn't like was it ended with a cliffhanger, if I has known I would of waited for the next book to read it all at once. Don't get me wrong I'm still looking forward to reading the next book.

    18. I wanted to like this book. I wanted to fall in love with the story and the characters but it just wasn't meant to be. This is a very lengthy book for not getting to the point and having a HUGE cliffhanger. Like, I feel almost upset that it couldn't be wrapped up in what we were given. But, it was a decent story and the characters had a LOT of depth. This story just wasn't for me. ****ARC given in exchange for an honest review****

    19. Jess likes to make sure Fletch knows how appreciative she is towards him, “I am happy. But I’ll be happier when we get checked-in and I can thank you properly,” I say, letting him know exactly what I want when we reach our bedroom. “You, my sexy player, are about to be thanked in more ways than one.” I liked this book, although I was not expecting that cliffhanger.

    20. Meet Fletcher Adams, a famous football player who doesn´t do relationships . He wants to start fresh to stay out of trouble and keep a low profile. And there is Jessica a real estate agent after a traumatic experience with her ex.Both have issues but help each other heal.I really liked this book. I liked the characters and give 4 Stars. Thank you Karen Frances.

    21. Emotional, Heartbreaking and totally gripping……………Jessica (Jess) Taylor is the heroine in this book and she is a strong successful woman who has been subjected to domestic abuse by her partner. Jess’s partner attacked her while she was pregnant resulting in her being hospitalised. Jess struggles to come to terms with what has happened and goes through some very low times in the days following her attack. Jess returns to stay with her parents after being discharged from the hospital a [...]

    22. What is domestic violence?Do you have an image in your head of a down trodden woman, who has lived a life of pain both physical & mental? What about the child with the abusive parent? A mum who does not protect her son, a son who grows up to become a famous footballer because after all it's only ordinary, normal people who face this, not famous people. We meet Fletcher, a famous footballer, who has played for teams in Europe as well as the U.K but decided to come back home to Glasgow. He meet [...]

    23. Blown away. That is what sums this book up for me. It tackles a really tough subject that I felt the author handled with such amazing grace and left me in awe. The emotional range that rides throughout this story leaves you raw and open. What I really loved about Jessica is how much of a fighter she is. She has gone through so much pain and so much anguish that for her to fight through is nothing but awe inspiring. What is really amazing is how in depth that Frances gets in with this story. It re [...]

    24. Playing the Game by Karen Frances was the first book I have read by this author and I was surprised about how well written it was. The pace felt a little slow for me but the story behind the words held my attention. Fletcher is this god in the "football or soccer" world and he has moved to a new team to put his life back on track. Jessica is this shining star who has her life planned out and thought it was headed in the direction she wanted, until one faithful night. When Jessica and Fletcher mee [...]

    26. 4 starI was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, twists & turns, and heartbreak. This is Jessica and Fletcher’s story. These two are opposites. Jessica had it all until her world came crashing down. He has everything but wants people to believe he is over his wild ways. When these two come together they are explosive. But are they in over there head? With the baggage they both have from their pasts are they really ready for move together into the future? Will the pain [...]

    27. Fletcher is a soccer playing who returns home to Scotland to play for a new team. He's got a bad reputation and he's ready to slow down. Jessica's family lives next door and Fletcher meets them when their car wont start and they have to get to the hospital to see Jessica because her boyfriend just beat her so bad that she lost her baby. 28. Darn what a book! This was my first book ive read written by Karen Frances and it was great! This is the story of young player in all aspects Fletcher Adams a football player who is well know for his active lifestyle.Things change for Fletcher when he meets by chance a young woman going through some horrific domestic abuse. 29. I can’t believe I was left hanging this way, I’m diving into the second book ASAP!! Ok so I absolutely love how strong these characters are, especially Jess and everything she has gone through. No one should ever have to go through all of this but I am in awe how she has handled all of it. And FletcherI swear my ovaries have exploded numerous times. I highly recommend this intense, emotional read!
